Auto Auctions- Can someone give me a little more information I am looking to buy a car soon?

May 4th, 2010 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by admin

I live in Denver, Colorado so if anyone knows of any around here let me know!

I am pretty sure I want to go to one of these because they are just government repo vehicles and I would like to get a car soon. Can someone give me info like if there are salvage titles there or are the cars mostly bad, unreliable cars?

Thanks

When you buy a car at a police auction what kind of title do they give you?

March 22nd, 2010 Filed under: Seized Car Auction by admin

Our local police will be having a seized car auction next month…I though it might be a good cheap way to pick up a car for my teen daughter…Now I’ve never been to a police auction before so I have to ask do they give you a salvage title or just the paperwork for a sheriff’s lien and expect you to get a title on your own?

if it matters these will be sized DWI, DUI and not abandoned along the roadside cars…

I bought a car, the person who i bought it off said it had not been in an accident, but it has Help!?

March 14th, 2010 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by admin

I bought a car two days ago. I paid £7000 for the car. The person who I bought it off, told me it had NOT been in any accidents or anything. I asked him a few times. He sells cars from his home, I went to a dealership today to have my car checked, and they told me it has been in an accident. In fact it was written off completely, It was a Category C Extensive damage, Which means it was totally destroyed and the worst damage possible. This now means the car is not safe for my family to be driven around in, and is worth around £2000 even if that. I told the seller, I want my money back, He has refused to do so. Is there any action I can take?? £7000 is a lot of money for me and that’s years of saving. The check showed that in the last 2 years it has been HPI checked a lot over 10 times, and he was aware of the fact it had been involved in accident. Please Help :( :(

I live in the UK England. I bought the car of Auto trader. A website and book that people can advertise their cars on. When he placed the advert he did not mention anything about the car being damaged. On the advert just says the car is in good condition and a quick sell, and few basic car details that’s about it. Nothing about salvage or anything.

Also the dealers are the ones who told me how many times the car has been checked, and told me the dates and by who (motor trade or auction or independent person). I was wondering, how I can find out the dates and by who. So I can prove he knew it was write-off, because during the time he owned it, it was checked. The dealership did not give me this paper as they are not allowed. But I paid £20 for a check, and it confirmed what they said. But doesn’t say how many times its been checked and the dates. How can I find out?
Please help on any of the questions.

Auto Fraud – Is giving a 3yr warranty on a car with a previous (undisclosed) $13k wreck fraud?

March 11th, 2010 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by admin

OK, I asked another question yesterday about "unknowingly being sold a car with a salvage title" — http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061128073937AAwWAu9 — which the dealership is supposedly still uncertain of.

Well, the saga continues. Now they claim they should get the title today, they’re just waiting for the auction people to send it. I’ve been told that the auction part is normal, though them not knowing any details about their purchase seems odd, to say the least.

They’re claiming they’re in the same position I’m in! Isn’t it their responsibility to know? Plus when I asked they insisted it hadn’t been in a wreck, and they went further to give me a warranty.

Assuming the car has only been in a wreck (that resulted in a settlement for k in 12/2005) how does that effect the so-called "bumper-to-bumper" warranty they gave me? Is this alone fraud, even if it doesn’t have a salvage title?

Shouldn’t they reduce the price? Am I stuck?

(I’m in TX.)
I purchased the car 11/22 but didn’t get the insurance stuff until after the Thanksgiving holiday. That’s when my insurance agent discovered the wreck, on 11/27.

I have called the TX Attorney General and the DMV and they’re telling me to submit a complaint. I’m going to call the legal people provided through my job later today, but I was hoping to settle this peacefully.

Initially they seemed to won’t to resolve this, yesterday they implied they were already looking for a new Ion, and insisted they wouldn’t leave me in a wrecked vehicle.

Now it just seems like they’re trying to get out of it and shirk responsibility. But I don’t think ignorance is an adequate defense. At the very least I think the price should be lowered, or I should be released from the contract.

I do know that I would not have bought the car had they told me it was in a k wreck and they acknowledge that that’s likely the case. Still, they insist the wreck doesn’t effect our deal.
I got it from a smaller local dealer called "Auto Max."

My issue with the wreck is that I specifically asked if it had been in a wreck and they said no. I asked two separate salesmen and they both said no.

My insurance agent only found the k claim through one insurance company — he was checking them all for the lowest price. None of the other insurance companies were showing this claim BUT I’m sure the dealership knew what was what.

I can’t accept that the auction didn’t let them know the history of that car — I’m sure the truth of the matter was in the price they paid for it. If they got a severely discounted price on it they had to know why, in my opinion. I doubt they got gypped too.

Though, I did initially give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they really didn’t know, but now I’m thinking the shock was more a reaction to the fact that I found out about it, rather than true ignorance/innocence.

And still, they claim they don’t have the title.

Salvage Car Question

February 27th, 2010 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by admin

My dad recently bought a salvage car at an auto auction. He fixed it up and set an appointment at the state patrol for vehicle inspection in order to get license plates for the vehicle. I wanted to drive the car before the inspection, so I was wondering if I could get a temporary license or trip permit for my salvage title car until the inspection appointment?

Copart – St. Louis, MO: 1999 Acura NSX “RUN & DRIVE?” Part 3

November 3rd, 2009 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by admin

1999 Acura NSX-T purchased from Copart St Louis, MO facility on 06-05-09. This car was supposedly a Run & Drive but was not the case when we received it (as you’ll see in the videos). This video is being posted in attempts to have Copart buy the car back and reimburse the transportation costs from MO to CA.

Problems:

Keys are blank copies. Cannot even turn on the ignition.

Engine is seized. Crank does not turn over even manually.

Car seems to have been a flood or completely submerged.

Thank you Copart!
