My father recently passed away and he was a former automotive engineer. He’s left me with his estate of mechanics tools. I am well aware of the value of snap-on tools, but he also had a wealth of Proto, Vulcan and SK tools. I literally have hundreds of sockets, standard, deep wells; wrenches, standard, angle and combination; drivers, etc. Although my husband is an avid wood worker, we really have little need for the amount and type of tools my dad had. I would like to have a better understanding of the value of these other brands as compared to Snap-on. Surely, many of them are quite old and are probably between 20 and 40 years old and some in better shape than others, but I really can’t bear to sell these at a garage sale and am looking to sell them privately or via an auction house. Can anyone who is familiar with tools give me an idea of their relative value (ie, crap versus something someone would pay for). …as a ball park for example, what would you pay for a set of used deep well sockets ranging from 1/4" to 2"?

Salvage Car Question
February 27th, 2010 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by adminMy dad recently bought a salvage car at an auto auction. He fixed it up and set an appointment at the state patrol for vehicle inspection in order to get license plates for the vehicle. I wanted to drive the car before the inspection, so I was wondering if I could get a temporary license or trip permit for my salvage title car until the inspection appointment?
