BBB Flooded With Complaints On 2 Auto Auction Sites
Stars-Automart, Autoaven Sent Cease And Desist Letters
POSTED: 12:41 pm MDT August 11, 2009
DENVER — The Denver office of the Better Business Bureau said its telephone helpline has been jammed with calls from people across the country who are asking about two auto sales Web sites that claim to be headquartered in Denver.
According to the BBB, calls have been nonstop and the BBB has sent a "cease and desist" notice regarding trademark infringement to the company because of a fake BBB report the sites link to that falsely shows the company with an A+ rating.
The two Web sites list one physical address as 10701 W. Sixth Ave, but that address actually belongs to BBB Accredited business, Automotive Avenues, Inc. Another link goes to 3925 Monaco Parkway, which actually belongs to Cintas Document Management — a paper shredding company.

The two Web sites, www.stars-automart.com and www.autoaven.com, claim to offer sales of repossessed vehicles.
The BBB said customers complain that once a majority payment is sent via MoneyGram to a Denver address, the company ceases communication. The company has not responded to the BBB.
An Internet check shows the two domain names are registered to a private registration company in Sunnyvale, Calif.
The BBB said it sent out the warning because on-delivery and Internet auction fraud were the top two complained-about fraud types at the Internet Crime Complaint Center.
"The BBB takes complaints very seriously and does not want any more consumers to be victimized," a news release stated.
TheDenverChannel attempted to contact the Web sites without success. The phone number listed on the site goes to a recording, which suggests callers contact them by e-mail. The same section of the stars-automart.com Web site lists a James Stewart as the owner.
To protect from online scams, the BBB has the following suggestions:
• Verify any organization credentials with the organization directly, (BBB, AutoTrader, Consumer Reports logos, etc.)
• Check the company’s BBB report at www.denver.bbb.org or by calling 303-758-2100. Only do business online with websites you are familiar with and that have a positive track record.
• Make sure the website has a privacy policy. It will contain agreements on how the information you provide on the website will be used and kept private and secure. Print this and keep it in your records.
• The privacy policy may also contain the company’s mailing address. Only do business with companies that provide a sure method of contact, should something go wrong.
• Do not wire transfer any payment. Wired funds cannot be traced and therefore cannot be recovered if you are a victim of fraud.
• If you have become a victim of fraud, contact your BBB and the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov to file a complaint.

Please dont fall for this and report them to law enforcement

hopefully yahoo will prevent all the pro scammers from entering data on this site.
I am only trying to warn people that the scammers come on yahoo and say that they are a good company when they are a scam. If you feel that this is wrong to post this information please send me an email
N

I am one of those idiots who fell for the scam. Then the scammers come on YA and tell what a good deal it is. All I’m trying to do is prevent others form becoming and idiot

Get your local police to contact interpol. If you don’t hear anything within 4 weeks call your congressman. We will not get any money back but we will shut these guys down and prevent it from happening again

5 questions school project?

March 5th, 2010 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by admin

List of five questions asked to help understand requirements’ based on what she is looking for before she buys a car.
How did you get the car? Cars that are sold through an auto auction are not was it bought from another dealership? Cars that were traded in by the original owner are usually the nicest used cars usually as nice as trade INS. Sometimes dealers will sell cars to other dealers. Was it traded in on a new car? Was it bought from an auction?.
How many owners has this car had? The original owner usually takes better care of a car than someone who buys it used. One owner used cars are typically nicer cars.
Has the car ever been wrecked, flooded, salvaged, stolen or had the odometer rolled back?, I guarantee the used car manager does. Besides. Most anyone who has sold cars for a while can spot a car that has been wrecked from a mile away. It’s simple to run a CARFAX and see if the car has ever been wrecked The salesperson will usually try to avoid giving you a straight answer on this. You may get as answer like “not to my knowledge,” or “the person who traded it in assured us it has not.”

What is the value on this car? Nevertheless, the answer the salesperson gives will show how forthcoming they are going to be. This is one of those questions you should know the answer to before asking

Is the title with car?
If the dealer does’ have the title present get a firm commitment, in writing, as to when it will be available. If you cannot get a commitment, do not buy. Without the title present, you technically dealers are not supposed to sell a car that they do not have a title for, but it happens all the time. Of. A car. has been traded in that the previous owner owed money on the title may still be held at the bank could run into delays in registering your car and buying license plates

Auto Fraud or Contract Dispute? What should I do?

March 2nd, 2010 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by admin

I bought/financed a used car in August 2008 and recently tried to sell it to CarMax because I cant afford my payments anymore. When CarMax appraised the car they reported to me that the car was salvaged. Considering that when CarMax appraises a car they check the car’s title through AutoCheck.com.

I filed a complaint with the Investigations office through the DMV and they reported that the car was completely fine. And of course my bank would not have loaned me the money to purchased a salvaged car.

So basically, CarMax and/or AutoCheck.com are the only ones saying that the car is salvaged. I called AutoCheck.com and they said that the dealership bought the car from an auto auction, and the auto auction “announced” it as a salvaged title to the dealership; but neither the auto auction or the dealership reported the title to the DMV.

I called a lawyer that specifically deals with Auto Fraud but he would not take my case. He stated that the only way I would win is if the DMV said that the car was a salvaged title.

So I dont know what to do…and I dont want to pay 000 for a car that is only worth 00. Should I go to my bank or should I go to another lawyer? Am I entirely screwed? Does this happen a lot? Please, someone give me some advice!

Salvage Car Question

February 27th, 2010 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by admin

My dad recently bought a salvage car at an auto auction. He fixed it up and set an appointment at the state patrol for vehicle inspection in order to get license plates for the vehicle. I wanted to drive the car before the inspection, so I was wondering if I could get a temporary license or trip permit for my salvage title car until the inspection appointment?

Salvage title vehicle with no plates, can I drive it to its inspections?

February 24th, 2010 Filed under: Salvage Auto Auctions by admin

Theres this car that a girl bought from an auto auction. She hasnt registered it so I’m pretty sure I will have to pay for the Brake/Lamp inspection and the CHP inspection. The car has no plates. I want to drive it to the mechanic so they can do the mandatory inspection even though vehicle history reports show no collisions of any sort. Would this be legal?

Where can I find a decent car for cheap? Online websites or auto auctions?

February 21st, 2010 Filed under: Online Auto Auction by admin

I’m a female student who needs a cheap, but reliable car. I am wondering if there are any auto auction places near Tempe, AZ and how they work. Also, does anyone know any good websites to search for cars online?
